Caring for our community

Being church doesn’t stop at our front doors.

We believe church is about showing up for people — kindness in practical, everyday ways. Sharing food, offering support, helping someone feel seen and valued. This is faith in action.

We focus on building real relationships across differences and supporting people through real-life challenges over time — not just one-time events. You don’t need to be a church member to be part of this work: many people take part by donating items, giving financially, or volunteering their time. Or simply start by asking questions and learning more.

Local outreach

Our Edmonton partners

Here are some of the ways we partner with organizations across the city. No special experience needed — just a willingness to help. Items can be dropped off at the church during office hours.

Recovery Acres

A residential program supporting men working to overcome addiction and rebuild their lives. A simple donation can help someone feel cared for during a major life transition — every October around World Wide Communion Sunday, we collect a car full of towels for the house.

How we help:

  • Towels and pillows
  • Men’s clothing — warm socks, underwear, outerwear, boots
  • Program materials

Tegler Youth Centre (Hope Mission)

A safe, welcoming place where kids and teens can spend time, try new activities, and connect with mentors. Small, practical items help create a space where young people feel safe and valued.

How we help:

  • Non-perishable food and after-school snacks
  • Personal care items and diapers
  • Gifts for children at Christmas

Bissell Centre

An organization working to reduce poverty and support people in building stable, healthy lives. Each Christmas we decorate a tree with toques, mitts, scarves, and socks — all donated to help Edmontonians stay warm through the winter. Once or twice a year our volunteers also put on a lunch. Sometimes connection starts with something as simple as a warm meal and a friendly face.

How we help:

  • Warm socks, scarves, toques, and mitts
  • Warm clothing donations
  • A volunteer-made lunch once or twice a year

Youth Empowerment & Support Services (YESS)

YESS provides shelter, housing, and individualized wrap-around care for youth aged 15–24. We contribute financially to their meal programs — support that helps ensure young people have food, safety, and care when they need it most.

How we help:

  • Financial support for meal programs

At Home in Highlands

A neighbourhood-led initiative creating safe, supportive housing and community for people rebuilding their lives. It’s about more than housing — it’s about belonging.

How we help:

  • Offering affordable housing space
  • Hosting gatherings — potlucks, movie nights, and community events

Mission & Service

We also contribute to a wider network through the United Church of Canada’s Mission & Service Fund — a shared pool of resources that supports community programs across Canada, emergency relief efforts, and global partnerships focused on justice, education, and health.

It’s a way to be part of something bigger — helping people locally and around the world. Learn more about Mission & Service.
